ADC/NISSAN JUDGING CRITERIA
- Quality of the idea:
- Is it original?
- Is it extendable across disciplines (broadcast, interactive, print, etc) or does it become a part of the target’s life?
- Is it relevant? Keep in mind our target audience.
- Creative execution:
- Is it attention getting?
- Is it memorable?
- Is it engaging?
- Media thinking/Problem Solving:
- Is it inventive?
- Will it reach our target in unexpected places?
- Are the creative ideas and media ideas connected and/or lifestyle connected?
- Business solution:
- Will it positively build brand opinion?
- Will it generate interest in consumers to learn more about the car?
- Will it increase consumer’s consideration to purchase a Nissan Cube?
- Will it drive traffic to showrooms?
- Will it incorporate the product into the target’s lifestyle in a meaningful way?

ADVERTISING SPECS:
Integrated Advertising (including
Integrated Advertising (including Branding, Digital, Mobile, etc.) and Integrated Advertising – “Outside the Box”)
This category is for advertising campaigns that integrate 3 or more media. You are required to submit at least 3 and up to 5 different components.
1. One of these components may be a 2-minute video outlining the entire campaign.
2. You are REQUIRED to send work in this category on a
data CD or DVD as an MPEG-4 video file (format: Quicktime) encoded to NTSC standards only (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
DVDs that include .VOB files (and launch automatically) are not admissible and file size is limited to a maximum of
100MB.
3. Additional supporting material may be included on the same data CD as high-resolution JPGs for print, MP3 audio files for radio or MPEG-4 video files for broadcast work.
4. Try to fit all elements of your entry on one data CD or DVD, if possible.
Newspaper/Magazine Print
1. All print entries must be mounted on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side.
2. Submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published.
3. Trim the board to provide a one-inch (3cm) margin around the work.
3. Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
4. For single entries, tape the printed Entry Label to the back of the board.
5. Campaigns consist of three to five (3-5) ads. Please attach the printed Entry Label to the back of the first ad in the campaign and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
6. Do NOT hinge, tape or “accordion” campaign boards together.
Poster or Outdoor
1. All poster and billboard entries should be mounted on Bristol or Illustration boards (NO FOAM CORE) with a roughly one-inch (3cm) margin.
2. For posters less than 24 x 34 inches (metric A1) in size, please submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published.
3. Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
4. For single entries, tape the printed Entry Label to the back of the board.
5. Campaigns consist of three to five (3-5) ads. Please attach the printed Entry Label to the back of the first ad in the campaign and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
6. Do NOT hinge, tape or “accordion” boards together.
7. In cases of electronic or moving billboards that require the use of full motion video, please submit the footage on a
data CD or DVD as an MPEG-4 video file (format: Quicktime) encoded to NTSC standards only (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
DVDs that include .VOB files (and launch automatically) are not admissible and file size is limited to a maximum of
10MB.
INTERACTIVE SPECS:
For all
Interactive Design/Advertising categories above:
1. All interactive work must be submitted as a URL.
2. For campaign entries, please create one landing page listing links/URLs to each website in your series. Please provide your landing page URL and any username and password information in the Website Information section. In addition, you must list the title of EACH of your websites in the main Title fields, as each site is considered a piece of your entry.
3. All URLs must remain live through July 30, 2010 in order to be judged.
4. If you have security concerns about providing a URL, please contact us at

5. If you have paid online, you do NOT need to mail in any forms, but you should print out forms for your records.
PLEASE NOTE that if your entry is a winner, you will be required to provide us with localized files or a Quicktime overview of the site for an interactive installation for the ADC Exhibition.
If this is not possible, your URL must remain live for at least one year from your entry date.
DESIGN SPECS:
Corporate and Promotional Design - Logo/Trademark AND Corporate Identity Program:
1. Entries must be submitted on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) (artwork) or as loose components (booklets, promotional apparel, etc.). Please mount letterhead, business cards, etc. on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side.
2. Submit any loose component(s) that you are unable to mount in one large envelope or clear plastic protector for each entry.
3. Attach printed Entry Labels to the board or containing envelope.
4. Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board, piece or envelope.
5. Logos should include a small (1-2 sentence) explanation to describe the type of company being represented.
6. Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components. For Corporate Identity Program (GD116), you may submit up to ten (10) components.
Environmental Design
1. Please send work in this category on a
data CD or DVD as an MPEG-4 video file (format: Quicktime) encoded to NTSC standards only (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
DVDs that include .VOB files (and launch automatically) are not admissible and file size is limited to a maximum of
100MB.
2. If this is not possible, entries may be represented by artwork reproductions or in-situ photographs, mounted on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side. Multiple images or views may appear on the same board. Trim the board to provide a one-inch (3cm) margin around the work.
3. For mounted work: non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
4. For mounted work: if multiple boards are required, please tape the printed Entry Label to back of the first board in the series and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
Editorial Design
1. All printed materials must be mounted on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side.
2. Submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published.

2. Entries submitted as artwork or photographs should be mounted on Bristol or Illustration board (NO FOAM CORE) measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side, with a roughly one-inch (3cm) margin.
3. Submit loose physical component(s) wrapped together or place them in one large envelope.
4. Tape the printed Entry Label to the board or to the containing wrapper/envelope.
5. Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included.
6. Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components. Please attach the printed Entry Label to the back of the first piece in the series and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
Students entering the 2009 ADC/Nissan Student Brief Competition are also eligible to enter the
Annual Awards.
