87TH ANNUAL AWARDS

STANDARD SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS, BY CATEGORY:
Please make sure to review the preparation instructions by category for additional important information below. For Broadcast and Integrated categories, submission in digital format is required.
YOU MUST MAIL your itemized list and any offline payments to the ADC with your entries by the deadline, or your work will not be cleared for judging.
ADC HYBRID, HY000 & HY001
- Work is submitted as a video presentation (not to exceed 3 minutes) with optional supporting material.
- Please send work in this category on a data CD as an MPEG-2 video file encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
- Provide an explanation of the creative brief, goals of the campaign and its execution, along with a description of its effects in the Entry Description text box provided (400 words max).
- Tape printed Entry Form to CD/DVD case and label the disk with company name and title of entry.
- Additional supporting material may be included on the same data CD as high-resolution JPGs or MPEG-2 video files.
**PLEASE NOTE: If a video presentation is impractical, please call us for alternative submission instructions.
ADC DESIGN SPHERE, SP002 & SP003
- Work may be submitted in any of the following formats: print, package, digital, interactive (including URLs) and video. Submit up to 10 elements total.
- For any video submissions, please send work on a data CD as an MPEG-2 video file encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
- Provide an explanation of the creative brief, goals of the campaign and its execution, along with a description of its effects in either the Entry Description text box provided (400 words max) or in a one-minute Quicktime video.
- For elements submitted in digital format, tape printed Entry Form to CD/DVD case and label the disk with company name and title of entry. Elements submitted as print should be mounted on boards measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side. For this and all other media types, attach the printed Entry Form to the board/piece with a clip or small piece of tape.
ADVERTISING
TV BROADCAST AND CRAFT, AD004-AD010 and AD013-AD021
- All entries must be submitted on a data CD as MPEG-2 video files encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
- Remove academy leader, countdown, color bars and end titles.
- Campaigns must consist of exactly three (3) distinct commercials, which are judged together as one MPEG-2 video file. Insert 1 second of black between spots within a campaign.
- Any foreign-language spots should be subtitled or dubbed in English. We will not accept written translations of foreign spots.
- Name your file with your entry ID. Example: AD000-00000-S_1.mpg.
RADIO ADVERTISING, AD011-AD012
- All entries must be uploaded through the entry site as MP3 audio files.
- File size is limited to a maximum of 5MB.
- Campaigns should be combined into one MP3 file. Insert 1 second of silence between spots within a campaign.
- Name your file with your entry ID. Example: AD011-00123-S.mp3.
PRINT ADVERTISING, AD022-AD031
- All print entries must be mounted on foam board measuring no larger than 24 inches (60cm) on the longest side.
- Submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published.
- Trim the board to provide a one-inch (3cm) margin around the work.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
- For single entries, attach the printed Entry Form to the board with a clip or small piece of tape.
- Campaigns consist of three to five (3-5) ads. Please attach the printed Entry Form to the first ad in the campaign and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
- Do NOT hinge, tape or "accordion" campaign boards together.
ADVERTISING POSTERS AND BILLBOARDS, AD032-AD038
- All poster and billboard entries should be mounted on boards with a roughly 1-inch (3cm) margin.
- For posters less than 24 x 34 inches (metric A1) in size, please submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published. Oversized posters and billboards may be represented by artwork reproductions or in-situ photographs, mounted on boards.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
- For single entries, attach the printed Entry Form to the board with a clip or small piece of tape.
- Campaigns consist of three to five (3-5) ads. Please attach the printed Entry Form to the first ad in the campaign and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
- Do NOT hinge, tape or "accordion" boards together.
- In cases of electronic or moving billboards which require the use of full motion video, please submit the footage on a data CD as an MPEG-2 video file encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
COLLATERAL ADVERTISING, AD039-AD044
- Submit each entry and its related components together in one large envelope or clear plastic protector.
- Attach printed Entry Forms to the containing envelope.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included with the collateral.
INTERACTIVE ADVERTISING, AD045-AD084
- All interactive work, except CD/DVD (AD053-AD056), BEYOND THE WEB (AD057-AD060), and WIRELESS (AD081-AD084), must be submitted as a URL.
- For campaigns, please create one landing page listing links/URLs to each website in your campaign. Please provide your landing page URL and any username and password information in the Website Information section. In addition, you must list the title of EACH of your websites in the main Title fields, as each site is considered a piece of your entry.
- All URLs must remain live through July 30, 2008 in order to be judged.
- If you have security concerns about providing a URL, please contact us at info@adcawards.org.
- Microsite (AD061-AD064) refers to a smaller site launched off of the main site.
- Web application (AD077-AD080) refers to the interface of an online tool or service-community site, online banking, etc.
- If you have paid online, you do NOT need to mail in any forms, but you should print out forms for your records.
INTEGRATED ADVERTISING, AD085-AD086
This category is for advertising campaigns that integrate 3 or more media. You are required to submit at least 3 and up to 5 different components.
- One of these components may be a 2-minute video outlining the entire campaign.
- You are REQUIRED to send work in this category on a data CD as MPEG-2 video files encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).
- Additional supporting material may be included on the same data CD as high-resolution JPGs for print, MP3 audio files for radio or MPEG-2 video files for broadcast work.
- Try to fit all elements of your entry on one data CD, if possible.
PLAYGROUND, PG239-PG321
NOTE: This category is only for PROFESSIONAL, UN-PUBLISHED Advertising work.Rules:
- Work must be unpublished, and created in 2007.
- All entries should be for legitimate clients and be submitted as finished work.
- Playground categories mirror advertising categories (i.e., animation, broadcast, point-of-purchase, etc.), but work must be entered in the "Playground" channel.
- Use the same preparation instructions as specified for Advertising categories.
- No student work may be entered in Playground.
DESIGN
EDITORIAL DESIGN, Magazine/Newspaper, GD087-GD105
- Submit the printed matter/component(s) in one large envelope or clear plastic protector for each entry.
- Attach printed Entry Forms to the containing envelope.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included.
- Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components.
BOOK DESIGN, GD106-GD114
- Only commercially published volumes will be accepted. All books will be judged in their entirety, except for book jackets.
- Submit loose component(s) in one large envelope or clear plastic protector for each entry.
- Attach printed Entry Forms to the containing envelope.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included.
- Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components.
CORPORATE AND PROMOTIONAL DESIGN, GD115-GD131
- Entries may be submitted on boards (artwork) or as loose collateral (stationery, business cards, etc.).
- Submit loose component(s) in one large envelope or clear plastic protector for each entry.
- Attach printed Entry Forms to the board or containing envelope.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included.
- Logos should include a short (1-2 sentence) explanation to describe the type of company being represented.
- Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components. For Corporate Identity Program (GD120), you may submit up to ten (10) components.
POSTER DESIGN, GD132-GD137
- All poster and billboard entries should be mounted on boards.
- For posters less than 24 x 34 inches (metric A1) in size, please submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published. Oversized posters and billboards may be represented by artwork reproductions or in-situ photographs, mounted on boards.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.

- Wherever possible, entries should include the original packaging or product as viewed or experienced by the consumer.

- Submit loose physical component(s) wrapped together or place them in one large envelope or clear plastic protector.
- Attach printed Entry Forms to the board or to the containing wrapper/envelope.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation included.
- Logos should include a small (1-2 sentence) explanation to describe the type of company represented.
- Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) related components.
- Please note that the Product Graphics (GD145) category includes graphics printed on electronic products, tools, appliances, housewares, etc.
ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN, GD157-GD161
- Entries may be represented by artwork reproductions or in-situ photographs, mounted on boards. Multiple images or views may appear on the same board.
- Trim the board to provide a one-inch (3cm) margin around the work.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
- If multiple boards are required, please attach the printed Entry Form to the first board in the series and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
- Please note that the Environment category (GD160) includes design of retail, restaurant, office, outdoor, and vehicle graphics.
TELEVISION & CINEMA DESIGN, GD162-GD169
- All entries must be submitted on a data CD as MPEG-2 video files encoded to NTSC standards (720x480 at 29.97 fps, with audio and video together).

- Photographs or illustrations alone will not be accepted: no fine art.
- For works less than 24 x 34 inches (metric A1) in size, please submit mounted originals, printed copies, proofs, reprints or tear sheets trimmed as published. Oversized entries may be represented by scaled artwork reproductions or in-situ photographs, mounted on boards.
- Non-English-language entries must be translated into English or have a typed English translation taped to the back of the board.
- For single entries, attach the printed Entry Form to the board with a clip or small piece of tape.
- Series entries consist of three to five (3-5) components. Please attach the printed Entry Form to the first board in the series and number the back of each board accordingly (1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc.).
- Do NOT hinge, tape or "accordion" boards together.
- For Book categories (PH213, IL227), only commercially published volumes are accepted.
DIGITAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
For all Broadcast and Integrated categories, submission in digital format is required. Slides and transparencies will NOT be accepted. Digital submission refers to submitting work as data files on CD, not uploading it onto the site, with the exception of Radio.
For ADC Hybrid and ADC Design Sphere entries, please try to submit all types of digital media on one data disc, if possible.
For Interactive Design and Interactive Advertising entries, all entries must be submitted as a URL unless entering non-web based work such as CD/DVD, WIRELESS (MOBILE PHONE, PDA, ETC.) or BEYOND THE WEB (INTERACTIVE KIOSK, INSTALLATION ETC.). Send this work on a CD along with your corresponding entry form(s).
