MOTION JURY CHAIR: KYLE COOPER Founder, Prologue Films and Co-Founder Imaginary Forces Kyle Cooper has directed and produced hundreds of main title and visual effects sequences across a wide spectrum of film and broadcast mediums. Cooper holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts and an MFA from Yale. While at Yale, Cooper studied independently with renowned American modernist Paul Rand and in his third year was awarded the Mohawk Paper Traveling Fellowship to complete thesis research at the Sergei Eisenstein Kabinet in the then Soviet Union. Cooper was creative director at R/Greenberg Associates from 1988 to 1996. In 1996 he founded and named Imaginary Forces then went on to found Prologue Films in 2003. Details magazine credits Cooper with "almost single-handedly revitalizing the main title sequence as an art form" and IFC ranks his title sequence for the film Se7en the third greatest of all time. The New York Times Magazine also lauded it as “one of the most important design innovations of the 1990s.” "Not since Saul Bass' legendary preludes...have credits attracted such attention," declares Wired. Cooper is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Alliance Graphique Internationale, holds the title of Royal Designer for Industry from the Royal Society in London, was nominated for a National Design Award in 2008, and is “one of the top 50 biggest and best thinkers from the last 20 years of advertising and consumer culture,” according to Creativity magazine. He has received six Emmy nominations and two wins for his work. |
