Steve began his advertising career in Chicago with a now-defunct agency (you make the connection). He afterwards spent six years at Hal Riney & Partners in San Francisco, before joining Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in 1990. At GS&P, Steve has worked on such diverse accounts as HP, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Emerald Nuts, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Porsche, the NBA, Norwegian Cruise Line and Chevys Mexican Restaurants.

In 1995, Steve was made Partner and Creative Director.

His work has won every major award in the industry—Gold at Cannes, The One Show, The Art Director’s Club of New York, the Clios, Addys and ANDYs. He has won the MPA Kelly Award and its Copywriting award twice. Two of his campaigns were judged by The One Club of New York to be among the Ten Best of the 1990s and in 2003 his “Fresh TV” campaign for Chevys was inducted into the Clio Hall of Fame. As Creative Director on HP, he has taken pleasure in winning “Campaign of the Year” honors three times from three different magazines: Campaign (U.K.) in 2001, Adweek in 2004 and Ad Age in 2007. Steve has been named to Adweek’s “Creative All Star Team” both as Copywriter and as Creative Director and has been named to Creativity magazine’s list of top 50 creatives from media and tech companies three times.

He rides some kind of bike nearly every day of the week--a passion continued from his glory days as “Newspaper Carrier of the Year” in his hometown of Shelbyville, Indiana.
