Nancy Vonk
ADC ADVERTISING JURY CHAIR: NANCY VONK

Nancy Vonk is Co-Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy Toronto. She joined Ogilvy in 1988 as an art director, having previously worked at shops in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Toronto’s SMW. She and partner Janet Kestin paired up in 1991, and have won awards including gold Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils and Clios. Their work has appeared in Communication Arts, Archive, Adweek and Advertising Age magazines. Their Dove ‘Litmus’ campaign has a permanent home at the Royal Ontario Museum and is featured in a Harvard Business School publication. They are the creative directors of “Evolution,” winner of two Grand Prix at Cannes in 2007. Janet and Nancy have led the Toronto creative department since 1998.

Nancy has judged shows including Communication Arts, The One Show, Cannes and the Clio Awards, and has chaired the AWNY’s “Good, Bad & Ugly” awards, Marketing, Bessies and Extras. She has lectured at schools across North America including the VCU Adcenter, Creative Circus, Emerson College and the Ontario College of Art and Design. She appears frequently on television, radio and in newspapers including Ad Persuasion, Report on Business Television, CBC radio, The Globe and Mail and many others.

Nancy and Janet have a popular advice column, “Ask Jancy,” on ad site ihaveanidea.org. Their Adweek Book, “Pick Me,” has been well received by critics, ad schools and Luke Sullivan, whose 5-star Amazon review advises readers to buy it immediately, even before his own nice little book, “Hey Whipple, Squeeze This.”

In 2006 Nancy co-founded “Been There”, a group of top North American female creative directors that offer online mentoring on creativeskirts.com.

Nancy and Janet were recognized in September 2006 as “Advertising Women of Excellence” at Advertising week in NYC. In November 2007 they will be honored as Women of the Year at the WIN Awards in Los Angeles.

Nancy chaired ‘boards magazine’s first Creative Workshop in Toronto in 2007.

She is on the advisory board of the Ontario College of Art and Design and a mentor at VCU Adcenter.

Jason McCann
INTERACTIVE ADVERTISING FOREMAN: JASON MCCANN

Jason McCann is Creative Director at TAXI NY. Jason is a master of telling compelling stories across multiple mediums. Whether through pixels or print ads, he always finds a way to weave real life insights into an entertaining and resonant message.

Jason learned this balancing act at an early age as a juggler at Canadian National Exhibition. Since then he has maintained his ability to engage large audiences, although he no longer uses torches and chainsaws as a finale for pitch meetings. His ten years of industry experience includes telecommunications, financial services, travel, automotive, and retail. His media mastery includes everything from e-commerce engines to flash-based microsites, as well as print design and complete brand identities.

Jason’s experience is matched by his unwavering commitment to the best possible solution. His clients value his dedication and his team can count on his quirky humour when the going gets tough. Current assignments include MINI, Nike, Molson, and TELUS Mobility. It seems somehow appropriate that a project named “Black Sheep,” a CRM web experience for MINI creative directed and written by Jason, earned Canada’s only Cannes Gold Cyber Lion in 2005.
